Are Canadian coins really bugged with radio frequency tags?

Canadian coins containing tiny transmitters have mysteriously turned up in the pockets of at least three American contractors who visited Canada, says a branch of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Holy crap, now that’s some news! I wonder how long it will be until it happens in the U.S…or has it already with the introduction of the new coins and dollar bills? Hmmmm…
