They have a lot of savings but recently seem to have changed from the "I want to save as much money as possible" psychology to the "I want my last check to bounce" psychology. I'm not saying I expected some inheritance. Its just that, of me and my brother, I would be the one financially bailing them out of they depleted their savings too soon. I am thinking about buying their long term care insurance myself. I sort of go through the same thing with my parents. They have a lot of savings but recently seem to have changed from the “I want to save as much money as possible” psychology to the “I want my last check to bounce” psychology.

I’m not saying I expected some inheritance. Its just that, of me and my brother, I would be the one financially bailing them out of they depleted their savings too soon.

I am thinking about buying their long term care insurance myself.

All in a dropping RE market. And dealing with parents who haven't bought a home in 30 years thinking "oh RE always makes money." Never looking at opportunity cost etc. Try having to talk your parents out of a 4th car ($30k), buying a 3rd home ($400k) they only want to keep 1 year until they decide to sell their other two homes and then buy another 5th home! All in a dropping RE market.
