I am sorry that this is not really personal finance related, but it is kind of “personal” related as it one day could affect any and/or all of us. A Federal Appeals Court has ruled that a woman who smokes marijuana to stay alive is not immune to prosecution on drug charges…huh? With all the problems this country has with real crime, this is what our justice system is wasting its time on? From CNN:
The case was brought by Angel Raich, an Oakland mother of two who suffers from scoliosis, a brain tumor, chronic nausea and other ailments. On her doctor’s advice, she eats or smokes marijuana every couple of hours to ease her pain and bolster a nonexistent appetite as conventional drugs did not work.
Now, just to be clear, I am not really “pro drugs”…I dabbled with marijuana in college and have not touched it or anything else since then. But come on, the woman is dying and it helps her out, who exactly is this harming? Where do we draw the line?
Sorry for the rant, I just had to get it out to someone as my walls are not very good listeners.
