After making through several cuts I was actually relieved as I was doing my job plus a couple of others as a QA Tech. After that I swore I'd never work for anybody else again. You mentioned having a hobby can turn into business, well, my friend, here's living proof a person who's actually done it. I buy and sell graded sportscards for a living, yes, it pays the bills and sales continue to grow month over month. Best, Jim Four years ago I was downsized at the software company I worked for. What you love might be a new career you want or a hobby you have. But the facts of life is there are bills and debts to pay. Take care of that first and then find a way to do what you love - Delayed Gratification. Too many people are doing a job for the money without a goal to work for to a better life. Overall, if there is a goal, the current situation is so much better. Rather than “do what you love and the money will follow” do “what will make you money to do what you love.” What you love might be a new career you want or a hobby you have. But the facts of life is there are bills and debts to pay. Take care of that first and then find a way to do what you love – Delayed Gratification.
