Also, one other quick point, you can also call your credit card companies and try and negotiate a lower rate, people have found this to work in the past and it can end up saving you hundreds. But, the actual "turn-around" in my life did not occur on the day that I was able to shout "I'm debt free". The "turn-around" occurred the day I said, "I'm going to take control of my finances". Whether you are deeply in debt or have a million dollars, the key is to learn to be in control! Once you do that, you can climb out of the hole OR you learn to manage the mountain!
