Finding New Music Through Free Online Radio Stations.

Posted by david | November 26, 2007

For those of you with a music addiction (like myself!) who are always on the lookout for new artists and new music, listening to online radio stations is a great place to look! And while there are many online stations that charge money, there are also a bunch that are free and stream really good music straight to your computer. Using these can save you some big bucks by preventing you from buying CD’s or MP3’s of artists that you are not sure about. Some of the ones that I use include:

AOL Radio - One of my all time favorites, because you can listen to some satellite radio stations as well.

Pandora

Last FM - I also use this one all the time as you can program in an artist you like and they will play music that is in the same category as that artist.

Live 365

Shoutcast

Radio Tower - A listing of online stations.

iTunes - They have good streaming channels as well.

Yahoo Music

GotRadio

Real Radio - Many stations available.

So before you go shopping for music, be sure to check out different artists on some of these channels - it could save you from buying crap just because you “heard” the band was good!

Great list. I’m a huge Pandora fan, just for the simplicity and lack of distraction caused by social features that I don’t care about.

That being said, I created a supplemental site for fans of Pandora to make it easier to find other’s station creations.

    Did I just contradict myself?
