Citizens Against Government Waste – Vote For The 2007 Porker of the Year!
Interested in seeing how your tax dollars are wasted? CAGW is a website that I check out quite often, and this morning they announced that voting was open to determine the politician who spends more of your money on wasteful pork projects! Here is the list, and you can go vote at the link at the bottom of the post:
Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), for “airdropping” a $3 million earmark for the First Tee golf program into the fiscal 2008 Department of Defense Appropriations Act conference report.
Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), for thwarting three amendments to the Farm Bill that would have provided modest reform.
Rep. John “Jack” Murtha (D-Pa.), for throwing a temper tantrum and threatening his colleagues over a challenge to a $23 million pet project he inserted into the Fiscal 2008 Intelligence Authorization Act and for purposefully putting up roadblocks and barriers to hinder earmark accountability and reform.
Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minn.), for proposing a “temporary” 5-cent increase in the gas tax in the wake of the Minnesota bridge collapse to raise $25 billion within three years for a new bridge trust fund.
Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), for an $11 million Health Resources and Services Administration earmark for his alma mater, the University of Alabama.
Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), for defending earmarks and pledging to continue his state’s disproportionate harvest of federal tax dollars and for earmarking $10 million for an unnecessary county road project in Florida which was rejected by local politicians.
Boy, those Alaskan politicians sure like spending money! At first glance 1 or 2 of these might not seem that bad, but when you go read why they are on the CAGW list, you can understand why. Cast your vote at Citizens Against Government Waste.

Thanks for the link to that site – I see my good buddy Ron Paul scores a beautiful 95% on their list.
John Murtha, on the other hand… I always wonder why all the democrats in this fair commonwealth keep voting for him – he seems borderline psychotic sometimes.
How about an update?
Neil, that wont be ready to do until January, but thanks for the reminder!
