Yet the Feds still say that inflation was only 3% for last year. I swear, I'm thinking about starting a website that solicits costs for a family of 4 for EVERYTHING they buy during the course of a year across all 50 states. Then I want to compare it to what the Feds say is our "cost of living."

I would guarantee that it would be no where near what the government hacks say it is.

It's horrible. I canceled my YMCA membership yesterday, and the form required a reason, so I wrote, "It's not in the budget anymore." The gal at the desk read it, sighed, and said, "A lot of things aren't in the budget anymore."

Another reason to simplify my life and live with less. :)

I agree with you, Guinness. A bonus to veggie gardening is its two-fold effect on their environment as well as consumers' wallets.

I kind of like the concept promoted on this site, http://www.revivevictorygarden.org/

It's wild. On a personal level I'm I'm happy that I've protected myself from a number of them, to the extent I can - no car, no rent, no consumer debt, and money at home in Europe as well as here in N.America - because indications are that it won't be slowing down anytime soon. The food one's been on my mind recently, since reading this article in Macleans (which I see to be linking all over the place, but I thought it was really thought-provoking). Get to growing those veggies!
