Got my prescription sunglasses on 11/2/09. I did have concerns, but they’re perfect.

I ordered a pair of prescription (progressives) sunglasses from 39dollarglasses.com which I should be receiving on Monday (11/2/09), and ordered a spare pair of regular glasses this morning from zennioptical. My two dollars is this: Some years ago I picked up my new pair of glasses from For Eyes and knew immediately they were too strong. I was assured by them that all was well, that after checking it was the correct prescription, and I just had to get used to it. I went home and spent the weekend wearing my old glasses because the new ones made me dizzy and sick. When I went back to For Eyes on Monday, For Eyes still insisted they were correct. I insisted they were not.

As it turned out, the lab had mistaken the doctor’s handwritten “2″ for a “7,” and had put lenses in that were -4.75 instead of -4.25.

So, with that, both of us were right–me, in knowing the prescription was too strong, and For Eyes in believing -4.75 was correct.

I had two OK experiences with this company before. The glasses were fine and very reasonable priced. Unfortunately , the most recent experience has been horrible. The prescription is wrong and they insist that I entered it wrong. Impossible to reason with them as to why this was not true. I will NEVER do business with these people again. I’d advise you to do the same. The original owners must have sold and quality has suffered in terms of product and service. Vote with your dollar.

I bought 2 pair of glasses from 39dollarglasses.com. I am very satified. I have the progressive lenses with the extra coatings on, the frames are spring hinged, both pair of glasses are nice & I can see great. I had bought glasses from googles4u & I couldn’t see out of them at all, after I returned them, all I got back was half the price. Over all, I would say that 39dollarglasses are better than spending $400 at Walmart vision.

I am sorry you had probs with the RX on your wife’s glasses. I have been using $39 for 2 years and have really had no problems. Considering I order 4 different RX on my account the company has been very good about getting the orders right.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I took the same chance and bought my last glasses from Zenni Optical, http://www.zennioptical.com I think. They have glasses from 8.00 +4.95 for shipping and usually arrive in about 2-3 weeks. Prescription was right on, I even had the eye dr double check it. Nice Blog, I enjoyed reading your posts.

Find a local America’s Best or ForEYES. $69 and $99 respectively for two pairs and free eye exam.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your experience. I now order from Zenni Optical and have been pleased. Some of those glasses start at 8.95! Is there a Sears store around you? The optical department is usually very knowledgable and they run specials in my area at least (NJ) of 2 pairs for $99. Once I went there when the sale was not running, asked about it and got it that day instead of waiting. Good luck!
