Yea, Costco can be a killer and we let our membership lapse too. We found that while something maybe $.05 cents cheaper per unit, I didn’t need 50 units of whatever it was – it was just clutter that I didn’t have room for, and it made me spend more at a time than I would have to if I bought smaller amounts!

I’m a bit organizationally challenged and thus have trouble with #1 and 4. Luckily, my husband pays all the bills and he has no trouble with organization at all. He pays bills as soon as they come in.

The best thing I’ve ever done, in terms of budgeting and organization, was to start my Daily Dollar Diary blog. Now I record all of my expenses on my blog and in my YNAB Pro budgeting software every single night.

I’ve been considering letting our Costco membership expire because I know I end up buying things I wouldn’t otherwise but I do like the lower gas prices. I’m also working on my willpower when I’m in places like Target, TJ Maxx, and Costco.
