Sunday Money Roundup - New President Edition.
In two days, we will be electing the first new President in 8 years. I cast my vote the other day during early voting here in New Mexico. I just couldn’t wait until Tuesday! While I sit patiently until the 5th for the results, here are some articles I really enjoyed from this past week.
Frugal Dad has a very cool article up titled “Seven Unique Side Hustles To Keep Your Family Finances Afloat“.
Cash Money Life talks about the worst airline fees that you must look for when you fly.
Mrs. Micah has some ironies of different health insurance costs. Believe me, I can understand this one!
Blueprint For Financial Responsibility has some timely advice about how to pick the best online savings account.
Paid Twice has some frugal fall fun ideas. I am already seeing some of these in my neighborhood, as the kids are loving playing in all the leaves on the ground!
Money Ning says that home ownership is still the American Dream. I agree, but in times like these, it’s hard to think so!
Plonkee starts a discussion about the impact of the credit crunch on savings accounts. Are you seeing or feeling the changes at your bank yet?
Five Cent Nickel talks about paying off fixed debt versus variable debt. Have both kinds? You might want to check out this post then.
Rich Credit Debt Loan asks a very important question - “Just How Safe is Your Money Right Now?”
The Wisdom Journal has an excellent book review of Scratch Beginnings, and I highly recommend you check it out. It might just change your life.

I’ve always like nickel’s blog and I found the post you linked to particularly good. It’s kind of short, but I’ve found that a lot of people are following the Ramsey philosophy pretty blindly when it comes to finances, which is a pretty dangerous situation to put yourself in.

Agreed, Ed - following any one system blindly is a huge mistake!

After a year of frugality, I’m $171 away from being credit card debt-free (now, on to the student loans. . . .) I couldn’t have done it without blogs like yours. I was the recipient of a ‘kreative blogger’ award, and have passed it on to you as well, with a post on my blog. Thanks for being an inspiration to me and others!

Thanks for mentioning my “side hustles” article! I procrastinated and missed the early voting window here, so I guess I’ll be standing in the long lines with others on Tuesday night.

Hey David, thanks for the mention. I voted early and I’m kinda glad. I have 5 fillings getting replaced at the dentist tomorrow. I’m gonna be sore no matter who wins.
