I love #4 for unclogging drains, I think it actually works better than commercial cleaners. Close the drain right after pouring the vinegar in and keep it closed while waiting for it to work it's magic. It will unclog even better because the fizz is forced to go down the drain as opposed to bubbling up. We're pretty avid users of vinegar except on the toilet bowls. I've wondered just how large of a barrel of vinegar is available at places like costco...

Also, remember that furniture that isn't solid wood (i.e. laminate furniture) can just be cleaned with a damp rag and maybe a little cleaning solution. Otherwise the polish just builds up and doesn't give any added value.

I have to be honest, I think Earth Hour is just a greenwashing event that will do nothing to encourage people to change. Instead, people will just turn everything back on in an hour and think they did something to change the world.

These are really useful tips and i think we can save our money and planet by applying in our daily life.
We've got to be united to save earth! Earth Hour is practiced at large scale in all developed and developing countries but there has been more publicity and awareness this year, as well as participation from large corporations like http://www.commit21.com/ which is a good sign - that there is still hope and that people still care!

Let's all do this, no matter where you are! Saturday, 28 March 2009. Lights off from 8.30pm to 9.30pm!

I'll add a tip! To clean your microwave, put lemon juice and water in a microwavable bowl (uncovered). Nuke it for a minute or two, to steam up the microwave with the lemony water. Let it sit for a little while, then whip down the inside of the microwave. Most anything caked to the sides or top of the microwave should have loosened itself and be easy to just wipe out. Stubborn stuff may require a scrub with a baking soda paste!
