I love my FREE over the air broadcast HD TV. No, I don't get 500 channels, but do you REALLY need them? I find plenty of other more productive, and more intellectually worthwhile than watching TV. Plus, I don't get bombarded by the consumerism mentality!
You didn't say if you had a cell phone, but I assume you do, so I think your best option is to just get high speed internet.
Just my $0.02 :)

In my opinion, having satellite TV means wasting $67/month ($804 a year!). I love my FREE over the air broadcast HD TV. A few times I had to call Dish and the service was fantastic. A few other times I called and it was hell.
Same thing with comcast. When we moved we waited too long to schedule an install and at first they said it would be 2 weeks before they could get someone out to run a new line to the house. That was unacceptable, but I made a few more calls and got someone who could come out the very next day.
That was awesome! Then whey they did come out, they had the wrong box. The DVR they had didn't have HDMI, and I told him that was something I requested. But the installer made some calls, pulled some strings, and even sat here and twiddled his thumbs for a few hours until someone brought him the right box. He didn't have to do that and could have just said sorry, use this box for now and we'll send a new one out in a day or two. So again, that was great customer service.
Then of course, just fast forward a few days later after I discovered an audio problem with our second HD box in the basement. Whenever I was using digital audio out there were skips in the sound. I called them up and they sent a tech out first thing in the morning, which was great. But the guy they sent was a complete douchebag. He just kept insisting that it was my receiver that was causing the problem even though I showed him that you could plug ANY other device into the same audio jacks and it works fine, and only the Comcast box was causing the problem. He just kept giving me the run around and blaming it on my equipment when it's the same equipment I've been using for years with both Comcast and Dish network without issues in the past. So, I just went to the comcast place myself and swapped the box with a DVR instead of the regular HD box and the sound issue was fixed.
So, you will hear customer service horror stories for any provider, so I think it really just depends on who you happen to get. Some people care and want to help customers and others don't. It's the luck of the draw.

With anything, I think the customer service just depends with who you get and/or who services your area. As for the phone, well, I work from home so need a phone that works all the time, even if the computer is off. Without the VOIP phone, Comcast is the same price as your ATT plan is, so it's a pretty fair deal. Still have my concerns about them though, from what I have heard from others. :)

ATT is not available in my new town.

As for the phone, well, I work from home so need a phone that works all the time, even if the computer is off. The plan you propose does not sound that good to me.
Have you heard of AT&T Uverse? New company, tons of pormo giveaways. Gift cards, 2 free months, the whole works.
I have them for satellite and hi-speed internet, for just under $80 a month.
I would ditch the pone service or get MagicJack--$25 per year.
Just one man's opinion

I dropped Comcast several years ago cuz their customer service sucked.

The plan you propose does not sound that good to me.

Have you heard of AT&T Uverse? I currently have Verizon FIOS, which I like even better. I didn't go for a package because I don't need phone service (I use my cell phone), and I only pay for local television (but still get it through the cable so I can DVR it!).

I have had Comcast before and was pleased with their service. My internet service is great and I have no problems with the phone service; although I don't really use it that much. The only reason I have a home phone at all is because of my alarm.
I keep hearing great things about AT&T U-verse and I wish I could get it at my house. One of my friends has it and it is awesome...and cheaper than Comast.

I currently have the Comcast “Triple Play” plan and I am pretty happy with it but I agree that all the rental fees for the equipment is pretty absurd.

My internet service is great and I have no problems with the phone service; although I don’t really use it that much. Hope Comcast can come through with a good deal for me, otherwise will have to stick with Qwest, Vonage, and watching TV online.

Thanks for your input on this Jeremy.
