Yes it is easier to do one stop shopping, but most small business have a variety of things to offer over the big box stores. I am a small business owner, with out the support of the community we would not be able to give back to the community. Please take the time to shop in a small business at least one new one a week. Take a walk downtown and check out what there is to see, you will be surprised what is available.

Thanks for all that shop locally! Small businesses are the backbone of our economic nation in my opinion and they deserve our support.

I am all about saving a buck but there are plenty of local businesses that I support even though I know I could go to the dreaded Walmart and save a few pennies.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economic nation in my opinion and they deserve our support.

By: Melissa

<guid

They keep the local accountant, lawyer, advertising firm, and a host of other professional service jobs in town.

I also like to point out that local businesses use local services. I shop at the Farmer's market for fresh produce. I buy my meats at the local butcher. We had a BBQ for family and friends and purchased all of the buns at the local bakery this year. It would have been cheaper to shop at the grocery store but keeping the money in town is more important now when times are tough then it ever was.

I live in a small community and my husband and I try to make our purchases local as much as possible. Large cities have that many more smaller locally owned business and some not so small locally owned business. We have two grocery stores that are locally owned and operated.
But my question is this, small businesses, county stores, don't seem to be able to supply enough jobs for the individuals in those cities, towns. We have several coops to choose from, but 1 only hires volunteers and almost never a paid position. So if there is a radical movement that begins to shut out the big box stores, where would all those people in my/your/their city work?

I wanted to say the very same thing Kim, thanks. The best restaurants, clothing boutiques, hardware stores, etc. can't compete on price, but they do offer good service and variety of products and experiences that big box stores don't.

David, even if you live in a big city like I do, shopping locally (literally and figuratively) is still important.
