Carnival Of Personal Finance #93 Is Tired But Happy.

carnival-in-goa.jpg

This week’s Carnival of Personal Finance is up over at Tired But Happy and it is quite a list! Some of my favorites from this morning’s carnival include:

My Open Wallet with Rule #16: Who Do You Think You Are?

Money, Matter & More Musings talks about a lifetime warranty on car brakes….after spending $687 first.

Blueprint for Financial Prosperity has an interesting post about deducting charitable contributions. I agree Jim, deduct them. If there were no deductions, people would donate less, plain and simple.

57 Important Web Resources For Investors.

I was told of a great post today over at Ask The Advisor that has 57 must have web resources for investors. These resources include such things such as the Morningstar classroom for learning how to invest to fantasy investing sites where you can practice your ideas until you commit real money to them. Anyway, it is definitely worth a read to anyone that does any investing, even if you are already a pro. Go check it out over at Ask The Advisor.

Carnival of Personal Finance #91 Is Rising With The Sun.

This morning, The Sun’s Financial Diary put up the 91st Carnival of Personal Finance..and it was a long one! There were 77 submissions! My post about teaching personal finance in school was included in the posted links. If you want to learn something new this week in the world of personal finance, I suggest heading over right now. Some interesting reads to get you started:

The Digerati Life has so many reasons to quit your job. Add them all up and that’s why I did it.

Extreme Perspective wants you to know why people don’t have an emergency fund. Very scary indeed!

Thursday Morning Money – Saving For Retirement Edition

Ever spend hours watching your retirement dollars go up and down with the stock market? No? Me neither….on to some favorites from this week….

Lazy Man & Money talks about the recently won $390 million dollar lottery and how if you split the winnings you could not buy that baseball team you wanted. I don’t know about any of you, but I won $5 that night and made back my money! Ok, so I can’t buy a baseball team either…..

Jim over at Blueprint met with a financial planner…and got nothing out of his meeting that he did not already know.

Hear Ye Consumers – Don’t Get Ripped Off Again.

Seems the good old government wants to help you get what you deserve from companies. They are offering a Consumer Action Handbook…for free! From the site:

“Your new computer doesn’t include a warranty. The sweater you ordered online never showed up. And the new washer you bought is noisy and leaking water. If you feel like you’ve just been ripped off, take action. Order your very own copy of the 2007 Consumer Action Handbook. You can expect your new Handbook to arrive within 4 weeks.”
