Sunday Money Roundup – Broken iPhone Edition.

Whoo-hoo, I get to drive 2 hours down to the Apple store in Albuquerque to have them take a look at my iPhone, which has what looks like lightning going across the screen. It’s inside the screen, so I know it’s not anything I did…but still, it’s not even a year old. Luckily it is under warranty, so we shall see what they give me or if they can fix it. Sigh…

My Two Dollars took part this week in the Festival of Frugality No. 139: The Michael Phelps Edition. Thanks for hosting the Festival! And now, here are some articles that caught my eye this past week:

Sunday Money Roundup – Monsoon Season Is Here Edition.

Will it ever end? Every afternoon about 2pm, major thunderstorms, rain, and hail come over the mountain and deluge the town with moisture. They call it monsoon season and I though they were over-exaggerating, but it turns out that they weren’t – it really is a monsoon every afternoon! While I find my umbrella, check out the roundup from this past week:

FIRE Finance has just released their list of the Top 100 Personal Finance Blogs, and My Two Dollars came in at number 15. Very cool! Without you guys this wouldn’t be possible, so thank you to all my readers and commenters!

Sunday Money Roundup – The $92K Real Estate Drop Edition.

This week was very interesting as we looked at a few more houses around town here, and found that we can afford either a 3 bd, 2 ba house with a detached artists’ studio (home office?) in-town with an acre of land and 360 degree views of the mountains that needs a little work, or a newer “doesn’t need much work” house about 15 miles outside of town. Choices, choices! As Pinyo once told me, “just wait a few months and you can afford whatever you want“. He might be on to something, as just this week the paper showcased a house that was listed at $390K last week – but is now at $298K and the seller “will be interested in all offers”. Interesting times, I tell ya.
