Vacation On The Cheap – Book A Bus Trip Package.

If you don’t mind sharing your vacation with about 30 other people, buying a packaged bus trip just might be the way for you to afford a quick getaway. I used to take the bus back and forth between Boston and NYC often and it wasn’t all that bad…although my trip was over in only a few short hours. Would I be able to survive 3-7 days traveling with a bunch of strangers? Who knows…but at these prices, it might be worth a look.

Airlines To Start Charging You Money Per Checked Bag.

airplane.gif

This should be interesting…I was just reading in a magazine that here in the U.S., Sprit Airlines is going to start charging its customers $10 per checked bag in addition to the ticket price. I would imagine that it is only a matter of time before the other airlines follow suit. Southwest Airlines is going to start charging a fee for an assigned seat, and even though I don’t think this is something any airline should charge for, I would pay for it because if you have ever stood around in the cattle line that is the Southwest waiting area you know just how bad it can get. Most airlines already charge you for food that used to be free, so starting to charge per bag checked would not surprise me in the least. My main issue with this, besides the extra cost, is that people already try to bring everything on the plane with them, which slows down both the boarding and deplaning process. Aer Lingus already charges 5 to 8 euros for checked bags on flights between Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Thankfully I Don’t Own A Car – Gas Price At $3.69 For Regular!

I know some of you that are not here in Los Angeles have cheaper gas, but this is just insanity. Yesterday while riding my bike to tennis lessons, I stopped at a gas station to put air in my tires (and don’t get me started on the $.50 for air charge). Price for regular 87 octane gas was $3.69! Need Super? $3.89. Craziness.

Granted, my wife still has a car as she commutes and her job is 14 miles away and it is getting more and more expensive for her to fill up, but I am very glad we have made the move to only having one car. Summer is not even here yet and gas is already this much? This summer is going to be a killer for commuters and travelers.

By Request – Pictures From Our Trip Through The Southwest.

Since I got a few requests for pictures from our trip, I went ahead and made a page on the site with a bunch of pictures from the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Jerome, Santa Fe and Taos. The last picture is of one of the lots we looked at buying in Taos, NM! Enjoy!

Sinagua Indian Cliff Drawings – Pretty cool stuff here.

After driving 14.5 hours yesterday back to Los Angeles, I am incredibly tired and not really rested at all. I slept last night in my own bed after 8 days, but instead of feeling great when I woke up this morning, I feel like someone hit me in the head with a shovel. Ugh. Overall, our trip was incredible though. We went to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, AZ and Santa Fe and Taos NM. I will work on putting together a few pictures from the trip in case anyone wants to see them. It’s going to be hard to choose because I took over 300 pictures.
