No Credit Needed Being Interviewed For TV.

As further evidence that the world of personal finance bloggers is becoming more mainstream, No Credit Needed just posted that a television crew was on the way over for an interview to possibly be aired in May. Good luck NCN and keep up the media work, you are on a roll!

Spending Money To Save Even More Money.

Over at Kottke.org there is an interesting post on how companies are asking us to spend money in order to benefit different charities. His example is the RED campaign at The Gap, which gives money to stop HIV/AIDS in Africa for each dollar you spend on their RED items. Kottke’s point is “if The Gap really cared about stopping HIV/AIDS in Africa, they would just donate the $7.8 million they spend on (RED) advertising to the Clinton Foundation”. Seems fair to me!

The article also discusses how banks and credit cards are using this to their advantage as well by encouraging you to spend money in order to save money. Personally, I actually like the Bank of America Keep The Change program as we don’t buy more than we normally would anyway and have the added benefit of $50+ put in our savings account monthly because of it, and we don’t miss the money at all. But to each his own! Go check out the post at Kottke.org.

Favorite Blog Wednesday – Don’t Need No Credit.

five-finger-checklist.jpg

The fifth personal finance site in my series “Favorite Blog Wednesday” is No Credit Needed, a great website and resource for those living with credit card debt. I have been reading NCN for quite some time, and it is always inspirational to read about people that have figured out that credit is not the way to go and are here to help others that may have found themselves in the same whole!

NCN covers a lot of ground on the site, writing about anything from credit card debt to motivation to trying to save 60% of a salary. Boy do I wish we could do that…maybe someday. And as if having this one site is not enough work, NCN also maintains several other sites as well – the No Credit Needed Network, a site for those dealing with credit card debt, the No Credit Needed podcast, and No Calories Needed. That must be a ton of work!

As an added bonus to you the dear reader, NCN is going to be featured on Oprah & Friends Radio on XM…TODAY! It will be on channel 156 at 6AM, Noon, and 6PM, so if you have XM or access to it, you should definitely check it out.

If you are having trouble with your finances and need some inspiration to help yourself out, I would suggest you start reading NCN right away. There are a ton of people already reading the site and it seems like a great community of like-minded folks. And for those of you who think you have it all together, there is a lot of stuff there for you too!

So head on over to No Credit Needed, and be sure to stay tuned for blog #6 next Wednesday!
